Mechanical Ventilator for people affected with COVID-19
During the appearance of COVID-19, this serious disease showed the lack of preparation in the Peruvian health sector and also around the world. The lack of UCI beds and mechanical ventilators were a difficult challenge for patients and physicians. Due to the lack of mechanical ventilators in Peru and around the world, made us to automaticately plan a development of a conventional mechanical ventilator with the ability to be rapidly manufactured. For its development, we spoke with specialists, visited hospitals and developed prototypes.
In this project, we present a protoype of a low-cost Mechanical Ventilator designed in a short period of time for their immediate use in hospitals and clinics. This device has different operating options by volume and by pressure, to give an extra boost to oxygen so that it can reach the lung alveoli. Due to the size of the project and the limited time, a multidisciplinary team including Researchers and students from UTEC worked hard on this project.
